Jay-Z took a tongue-in-cheek shot at NBA superstar LeBron James on Monday as he christened the NBA team that will soon call his home borough home – the Brooklyn Nets.
The New Jersey Nets will take on their new name when the team moves next fall from Newark to the still-being-built Barclays Center on Atlantic Ave. in Prospect Heights.
Brooklyn-born Jay-Z, a part owner of the club, will rock the mike to open the new digs, but the rapper wouldn’t say how many concerts he will be giving. “Maybe one. Maybe two. Maybe three,” he said, adding a little joke, “I sound like LeBron.”
The rap mogul was making light of James’ declaration of how many NBA titles he would win when he joined the Miami Heat.

Brad Pitt plays a hero in many of his movies, and now he’s one in real life after saving a woman on the set of his new movie from being trampled.
It happened Thursday during a scene of “World War Z” in Glasgow, Scotland, when 700 extras were used to portray a zombie invasion, People magazine reported.
One woman slipped and Pitt was there to help her escape from being trampled.
The woman suffered only has a scrape on her knee, thanks to her new favorite movie star.

If there’s any year it would seem reasonable to bet against a defending U.S. Open tennis champion, this might be the one. Rafael Nadal, the world’s second-ranked player, is entering this year’s U.S. Open, which begins on Monday, with a 2011 record that’s a dream for most pros. Nadal is 53-10 for the season, which is good for a .841 winning percentage.
But as impressive as that sounds, it’s actually a bit underwhelming for a 10-time Grand Slam champion. In fact, Nadal’s current 84% match-victory rate is his lowest since 2004, the year before he won his first Grand Slam title and began to threaten Roger Federer’s mid-decade dominance.
